 Welcome

Welcome to the Cameron group pages!

Neil Cameron is the Monash Warwick Alliance Professor of Polymer Materials. He splits his time between the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University (Australia) and the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick (U.K.). Research activities are directed towards developing novel polymeric biomaterials for application in areas including tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and drug delivery.

PhD Projects Available

Two PhD scholarships provided by the Monash Institute of Medical Engineering (MIME) are available. Applications from outstanding Australian and overseas candidates are welcome, closing date is 30/06/2016.

  • Development of a new synthetic material for ligament replacement surgery
  • Development of an engineered skin substitute for the treatment of burn injuries
  • In addition, we are always looking to recruit excellent PhD students on other topics of interest, which can be tailored to the individual applicant. Monash University has a wide range of scholarships available to excellent candidates from Australia and overseas. The current scholarship round closes on 31/05/2016. If you are interested, send us an email.

The following PhD titles are currently available at the University of Warwick.

  • Giant polymersomes as simple cell mimics
  • Scaffolds for endometrial stem cell culture in 3D
  • Hematopoetic stem cell production using a porous biomaterial
  •

To enquire about PhD positions, please send an email, with attached CV, to neil.cameron@monash.edu or n.cameron@warwick.ac.uk.

26/02/2016: Congratulations to Ash Murphy on passing his confirmation!

25/02/2016: Jessie Ratcliffe, Mohammed Hamazi, Reece Lewis and Sri Vanarasi all passed their confirmation today. Well done!

23/11/2015: Welcome to Ilze Donderwinkel, visiting Masters student from Radboud University Nijmegen.

03/11/2015: Vu Dao's review on polymers as flocculants appears in Polymer Chemistry,

02/11/2015: Welcome to Ishrath (Hana) Shiraz, new PhD student working on novel latexes for paint applications.

13/10/2015: Paper on photopolymerised PCL-containing thiol-ene scaffolds for tissue engineering now in print in Polymer Chemistry. This article is part of a special issue to commemorate the work of Professor Dave Sherrington, my PhD supervisor, who sadly passed away just over a year ago. I was honoured that the editors chose our article to feature on the cover of the issue (image by Nanoscope Scientific Graphics).

06/10/2015: Caitlin Langford passed her PhD confirmation today. Well done Caitlin!
