1995–96 Post-doctoral research associate, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands

1996–97 Post-doctoral research associate, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh

1997–September 2005 Lecturer (Assistant Professor), Department of Chemistry, Durham University

October 2005-September 2008 Reader (Associate Professor), Department of Chemistry, Durham University

October 2008-August 2014 Professor of Bioactive Chemistry, Durham University

September 2014-present Monash Warwick Alliance Professor of Polymer Materials, Monash University and the University of Warwick

Neil has published >130 articles, book chapters, reviews and patents and has given >140 invited presentations at conferences, symposia and colloquiua. His research interests concern the preparation of functional macromolecules and macromolecular materials, and he enjoys many fruitful research collaborations with groups from various countries.

Neil is married (to Diana) with two children (Eilidh and Louis). In what little spare time he has, he trains in Shukokai karate with Louis and (recently) Diana. He is currently 3rd Kyu (brown belt) and trains at Samurai Karate Wantirna.
