Model OIB-2 High Frequency Operating Impedance Bridge by Delta Electronics
ralph klimek  VK3ZZC March 2015
This unit was aquired by me in 2013  at the Southern Peninsula Amatuer Radio Club Hamfest  . It was in very good condition  and most likely had never or rarely  been used since its construction in 1978.  The unit came will all acessories and the little instruction book,  without which the unit would not have been very usefull.  It required very little repair. A dry-joint  prevented the unit from measuring reactance; resoldering a dodgy looking connection  brought the unit to life and then gave sensible readings.  I expect this minor fault has left this unit "on the shelf" , and then, finally winding up at the Hamfest.  It would have been originally marketed and sold to professional AM radio broadcast stations for antenna measurement and qualification.  The unit has very high build quality and now forms an indispensible part of my amatuer station.  The instruction book was provided with the unit, which was very fortuneate as reverse engineering the calibration and usage information would have been extremely difficult.  I have scanned the little book, it is a very good theoretical read  on the design of RF bridges. I hope other lucky radio amatuers may find this scan usefull.  The AM broadcast and short-wave senders are all slowly going off air, more examples of this execellent unit will be making their way to flea markets.  Despite its age , it would still make a fine addition to a professional radio studio/workshop.  The biuld quality of this unit is reminiscent of General Radios'  classic equipment.

The original manufacturer exists , their  other excellent current  products can be found at http://www.deltaelectronics.com/amprod.htm  and sells the successor product  to this most fine unit.
