Editing

This page describes my editing notation for anyone reading a paper draft that I've marked up by hand.

  • Triple-underlined text should be capitalized. (If it's already capitalized, make it lower-case.)

  • Text underlined with a sawtooth wave should be italicized.

  • "Stet" is Latin for "let it stand." (This suggestion should be ignored.)

  • TMI: too much information; this much detail is not required.

  • two diagonal lines at the beginning of a paragraph: means nothing...just that I had reached this point of the paper when I was interrupted and had to mark where to resume reading.
