His research interests concern the preparation of functional macromolecules and macromolecular materials, and he enjoys many fruitful research collaborations with groups from various countries. Neil is married (to Diana) with two children (Eilidh and Louis). In what little spare time he has, he trains in Shukokai karate with Louis and (recently) Diana. He is currently 3rd Kyu (brown belt) and trains at
Samurai Karate Wantirna.
