Viet is a Phd student in crowd modelling. His PhD project focuses on real time human movement data acquisitions and crowd modelling. This project is part of a larger collaborative project between the faculties of IT, Engineering, and Science at Monash University.
Marius is a Phd student in fitness landscape characterisation, which strives to define properties of gradients and find the most suitable stochastic algorithms to solve the problems. His approach, known as Predictive Diagnostic Optimisation (PDO) predicts with certain accuracy the quality of local optima and that can help decide which of the initial solutions is appropriate to optimise. The number of predictors created is a metric for the homogeneity of the landscape. The advantage of PDO is that it provides information regarding the difficulty of the search landscape alongside the optimisation results.
Irene is a senior lecturer in optimisation and artificial intelligence. Her research area is manyobjective optimisation. Dominance relationships are not helpful in distinguishing between solutions when more than 3 objectives are being investigated. The need for a more practical approach to multi- and manyobjective optimisation has become apparent through the lack of successful algorithmic approaches as well as the absence of appropriate result quality measures.
Ayad is a PhD student working in optimisation. His research topic is in the area of scheduling and logistics optimisation, with a focus on real-world problems. The results will be validated on industrial case studies provided by Laminex SKU Distribution.
Asef is a postdoctoral fellow at CSIRO. He is involved in developing solution methods for some industrial problems using concepts of Integer Programming.
Lars is currently a Professor at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He has active research interests in the areas of modelling and verification of systems and software. His main focus is on automated analysis, mainly probabilistic and timed model checking and model-based dependability evaluation of complex software intensive systems.
