Complex Fluids & Microfluidics

1-2 Sept

2008

Purpose

CFMW08 is an informal gathering of researchers working in complex fluids and microfluidics with the primary purpose of providing a forum for cross-fertilisation of ideas on current advances and future directions in these areas.

Scope

Complex Fluids

  1. Polymeric liquids

  2. Colloidal suspensions

  3. Physiological/biological fluids

  4. Granular materials

  5. Surfactant-laden systems

Micro/Nanofluidics

  1. Fluid actuation and droplet transport

  2. Pathogen/biomolecule concentration

  3. Micro-mixing

  4. Separation

  5. Bioparticle sorting

  6. DNA manipulation

Format

The workshop will consist of several plenary sessions by invited keynote speakers who are leading experts in their respective fields. In addition, there will be a panel discussion session on perspectives on future directions in both subject areas. Please see here for the programme.

Registration

Registration Fee

  1. AUD20 - Before 1 July 2008

Biomicrofluidics (American Institute of Physics) is the official journal for the workshop. Launched in 2007, Biomicrofluidics is intended to serve as a timely and authorative resource in new developments in microscale fluid mechanics and its applications across interdisciplinary fields such as engineering, physics, materials science, chemistry and biology.

Venue: Melbourne, Australia

Date: 1-2 September 2008
