1. GALILEO'S TELESCOPE TOUR
Galileo's original telescope is currently on display at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence along with
other precious artifacts. We have organized tours for groups of 20-25 for the afternoon of
Wednesday June 24 (note that this is the same day as the conference dinner).
If you would like to take part in this tour, please purchase tickets for €23 via the conference ecart
webpage: http://ecommerce.sci.monash.edu.au/categories.asp?cID=20
I need to finalize numbers for the Palazzo Strozzi BY FRIDAY MAY 29 so please buy your tickets
before then.
You can view the exhibition site at http://www.galileofirenze.it/index.jsp?idProgetto=2
2. POSTERS
A reminder that POSTER ABSTRACTS are due next FRIDAY MAY 22.
Please note that this deadline is strict because the abstract booklet needs to be shipped to Italy in
time for the conference.
A reminder also that a special session dedicated to Powerpoint poster summaries will be held on
the Tuesday afternoon. This will be followed directly by wine and cheese in the Sala Specchi
where the posters will be displayed. Please follow the instructions at
http://users.monash.edu.au/~ro/LinFest/abstract-sub.htm
3. CONFERENCE DINNER
If you haven't registered for the Conference Dinner (by buying tickets via the ecart page) please
reconsider - the venue is one of the Medici family's villas in the heart of the Tuscan countryside - it
will be a wonderful evening, the highlight of which will be the after-dinner Doug stories!
4. GUEST LECTURER: ALBERT LIN
Doug's son Albert Lin is a researcher and explorer with the Center of Interdisciplinary Science for
Art, Architecture and Archaeology at UC San Diego. He has agreed to present a lecture entitled
``A Noninvasive Search for the Tomb of Genghis Khan: Modern Tools to Solve an Ancient Mystery''.
This will take place following the poster viewing on the Tuesday evening. For more information see
