Larkspur control harness project
This project is inspired by my desire
to get back on air, now that children are more grown up and less
dependant on my time. My C11, C13 and C42 never came with their control
harnesses and cables. Thirty years ago I made ad hoc and assorted
devices to extend and control these radios, but this time I wanted to
put all the common controls and a bit of electronics into the one box.
These genuine connectors are also my very last of these now
unobtainable connectors, this time firmly attached to the case. My
original batch of homemade control and power cables were lost after
many home moves, some years ago.
There is nothing to the circuit, some presets for line level in and
out, VU meter and detector current meters which are brought out of the
C13 and C42 control harness connector. I dont think this signal was
actually used in the official control boxes, but it makes an
effective S meter.
Using a preloved die-cast box, front panel is attached by some piano
hinge stock. Also featured in this project is my now favoured component
mounting technique of ad hoc PCB made with a Dremel and a tungsten
carbode cutter. Makes PCBs on the fly.
