Amish Life: Rumspringa or Running Around
Rumspringa is a time in an Amish teenagers life when they are encouraged to attend Sunday evening parties to meet other Amish young people. These parties take place at an Amish home and consist of singing traditional Amish songs and playing games. Rumspringa varies from one Amish community to another, but its sole purpose is for young Amish men to meet young Amish ladies to court. Most Amish teenagers join the church at this time or shortly before they decide to get married. Rumspringa is not as some people have written in the past, a time for Amish teenagers to run wild.

Recipe of the Month
Amish Casserole
  • 2lb. Hamburger
  • Peas or Corn
  • 1 Can Mushroom Soup
  • 1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
Brown hamburger and precook noodles and celery. Add other ingredients. Spread bread crumbs on top. Bake about 45 Minutes. (300 to 350 degree oven probably works best)
