NSIPP Land Initialization: Grid to Catchment
•A forcing data set is
under construction using the ECMWF (1979-1993) and NCEP (1994-present) re-analysis
products.
• In the first step, the forcing fields
precipitation (convective and total), downward radiation (long and short wave), air
temperature, dew point temperature, surface pressure and wind speed are interpolated to
catchment space.
•
In this example air temperature
for 24Z
January 31st 1979 is interpolated from a Gaussian grid (~1.125°) to catchment space (~60km). This is repeated for every six hour time
step for
each of the forcing variables.
