EDUCATION:
1992, Diploma (M.A. Equivalent) in Physics, Nuclear and Elementary Particles, University of Bucharest, Romania 1999, PhD in Mathematics/Astronomy Max Planck Institute of Radioastronomy, Bonn, Germany and Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest and 2008, Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Monash University POSITIONS HELD: Following the discovery of a first solar quake by two researchers (Kosovichev and Zharkova, Nature 1998) , I pioneered the research field of flare seismology with discovery of a dozen of solar quakes in the solar cycle 23, followed by other quakes in the solar cycle 24; my research expands into the multiwavelength studies of solar quakes, helioseismology, solar flares -particle relation to the generation of solar quakes, white light emission, helioseismic holography, local helioseismology of seismic haloes around active region, properties of quiet sun with HMI/SDO, type II radio bursts. 2008-present Senior Lecturer, Lev C, School of Mathematical Sciences, Monash University 2005– 2007 Lecturer B, School of Mathematical Sciences, Monash University 2004 Australian Research Council Researcher, Monash University 2001– 2003 Postdoctoral Research fellow, Australian Research Council, Adelaide University, Australia 1999 – 2000 Permanent Position Researcher, Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy 1999 – 2000 Fixed-Term Lecturer, University of Bucharest 1997 – 1999 Research Assistant, Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy 1994 – 1997 PhD student, Max Planck Institute of Radioastronomy Bonn, Germany 1992 – 1994 Research Assistant, Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest RESEARCH

member of: Astronomical Society of Australia, Australian National Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, the International Astronomical Union.
I am actively involved in teaching undergraduate astronomy to the second, third and Honours students of the Faculty of Science at Monash University. I also teach Advanced Engineering mathematics, Faculty of Engineering (large classes of 200 students). I have three unit coordination responsibilities every year, and tutorials accordingly to a work model of our School (40% teaching, 20% administration/service). Teaching load: 76 lectures/year + tutorials and other student contact hours) I am also the Honours Astrophysics Coordinator in the Faculty of Science and deputy director of the Honours Studies in the School of Mathematical Sciences. I am the treasurer of the Monash Centre for Astrophysics at Monash.
