Biography

Dr Dingyang Zheng was raised and educated in China. He received his Bachelor Degree in Engineering with first class honours from Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) in 1984 and his Master Degree in Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 1987. Since then, He has worked at HUST for 8.5 years. First as a lecturer (1987 ~ 1995) and later as an associate professor (1995-1996). He obtained his PhD degree from The University of Hong Kong (HKU), in 1999. After that, he spent two years as a research fellow in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

 

Dr Zheng moved to Australia in June of 2002. He first worked as a research fellow at James Cook University. Dr Zheng joined Institute of Railway Technology, Monash University, as a senior mechanical engineer in July 2004.

 

Dr Zheng's research interests include wheel-rail interaction, railway vehicle dynamics and simulation, environment noise and control, statistical modelling, object-oriented programming (OOP) and data analysis. As a key team member, Dr Zheng was awarded Vice-Chancellor's Awards - Excellence in Innovation and Collaboration in Research with Industry in 2008.

 

In total, Dr Zheng has published 2 books, 21 journal papers and 17 conference papers.
