The Litany of the Garou
Garou Shall not mate with Garou
Metis are wonderful Warriors. Often their abilities far outstrip
those of their more 'noble' brothers. Mikal does not have a problem
with them. Initially he was given the fact that metis are more prone to
corruption, being born against the Litany and all. However moving
to Grinding Stone, and latter Sleeping Lore have softened him on Metis.
They didn't have a choice after all.
The Litany reads that the mating is wrong, not the child so formed.
Therefore the parents of metis are wrong, in the extreme. It is not seomthing
that mikal would do, and something that he would look down upon greatly in his
pack members. It does remove the possibility of "true" Garou or Kinfolk. Both
of which have the advantage of begetting more Garou in turn.
Combat the Wyrm wherever it dwells and wherever it Breeds
This is perhaps Mikals strongest point in the Litany. Possibly he is mis-enterpretating
the rule. Mikal takes dwelling as meaning wherever it exists, not wherever it
lives. Hence see wyrm, kill wyrm. We are all Garou, and either the wyrm dies,
or we die discharging our duty. He is coming to the point however that perhaps
going for backup may be useful. Although destroying creatures of the wyrm
directly and forthrightly is nearly always the correct way to go. This
seems to be one of the sticking points between Mikal and his pack and
may be the one at which the camel is broken.
Respect the territory of another
Do so. Mikal has not thought overly on this rule. Territory has of course no real physical
meaning in the city. But Garou have dominion over ideas, places and concepts as well.
If Mikal had a problem with technology, we would offer the problem to the Glasswalkers
first. If they gave him leave then he would do something about it.
Of course when it comes to the more physical territories of the Garou then this rule
undergoes a near complete transformation. As a matter of course a Garou entering the
bawn of a sept is hostile until they have introduced themselves.
Fight every battle as if it is your last
Formerly Accept an Honourable Surrender
From Mikals Get heritage this rule is as it stands. From what he has seen it seems
a fair rule. The wyrm does not surrender except to attack you in other ways. If you
get used to surrendering then you will hesitate to drive home that last blow that
may remove the problem that you have. Hence you should always fight as if you
are about to join Fenris. No prisoners. No questions. Just the blood of the wyrm and
glory.
This does not mean the a nice friendly discussion among packmates will result in death.
Conduct yourself honourly of course. But it is the right of the winner of the combat
to walk away. It is their place to decide when enough is enough. Not the losers to
petition for surrender.
Submission to those of higher station
They are better then you after all. Being in a higher station requires greater ability
either political or of a more tangible nature. Unless you feel that they are not
doing their job well enough. Those of higher station need to earn the respect and
submission of others.
The first share of the kill for the Greatest in Station
Of course. But see above, they have to earn it.
Ye shall not eat the flesh of Humans
Ain't curses grand. Anyway, the flesh will only be pure enough if it is a human you
don't want to kill anyway. Mikals been told the taste is rather bland anyway.
Respect for those beneath ye - all are of Gaia
The veil shall not be lifted
Do not suffer thy people to tend thy sickness
