Accounting for Non-Accountants / Accounting for Company Directors

- a one or two day course which introduces individuals with little or no technical Accounting background to the basic concepts of Accounting including :

• what is accounting and financial reporting;
• the Conceptual Framework (i.e. the general principles of accounting)
• an understanding of the terms Asset, Liability, Income, Revenue, Expense and Equity;
• a familiarity with the Statement of Financial Performance (Operating Statement or Profit and Loss), the Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) and Statement of Cash Flows;
• a discussion of the concepts of Debit and Credit and their practical application;
• use of the General Journal and General Ledger;
• the ability to produce journal entries, post these entries to the ledger, produce a trial balance and financial reports;
• cash versus accrual accounting; and
• a systems approach to accounting and financial reporting.

- a two day course which introduces individuals with little or no Excel backround to basic and intermediate concepts including :

• basic spreadsheet structures;
• entering and editing data;
• formatting;
• entering formulae;
• using functions;
• range names:
• menubars and toolbars;

• worksheet forms; and
• graphs.

- a two day course which introduces individuals with no backround in Visual Basic for Applications to a comprehensive overview of VBA concepts including :

1. Recording and Running Macros;
2. Writing and Editing Macros;
3. Objects, Properties and Methods;
4. Variables, Constants & Data Types;
5. In-Built Functions and User Defined Functions;
6. Making Decisions with VBA;
7. Repeating Actions in VBA Loops;
