This Symposium will honour the outstanding contributions to astrophysics of Doug Lin as well offer the opportunity to celebrate his 60th birthday. The programme has been designed to highlight the evolution of Doug's career and his many and varied extremely fruitful collaborations and associations.
It will reflect his early and ongoing interest in galaxy formation and structure while focussing largely on the theory of planet formation.
The meeting will take place at the Monash Prato Centre June 21-26 2009 in the Tuscan town of Prato, 30 minutes from Florence.
In the spirit of a birthday celebration for a well-loved colleague we are planning a meeting which is fun and inspiring, both science and story-wise! While there will only be invited lectures, participants will have the opportunity to present their current work in poster form together with a short powerpoint presentation.
Doug Lin is a Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is the founding Director of the Kavli Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Peking University.
