My current and recent economics experiments at Monash University

Here are brief descriptions of some experiments conducted by me or, in some way, associated with me. For scientific reasons, it is not always possible to give detailed information about an experiment, such as precise information about payments.

Unless stated otherwise, all of these experiments take place in MonLEE, which is located in the Menzies Building (building 11) on the Clayton campus, in room E957. They are open to Monash students and staff members.

Experiment title Experimenter(s) Description Explanatory statement
Buying and selling in a simple market IV (main experiment) Nick Feltovich In this experiment, participants are assigned the role of either buyer or seller. Sellers produce goods that they try to sell, and buyers choose which seller they visit in an attempt to buy these goods. Prices are negotiated between buyers and sellers. You are paid based partly on the results of your choices, and partly on luck. The experiment is expected to take up to 120 minutes, and most participants will earn between $25 and $50. PDF file
Political decisions and voting II Nick Feltovich In this experiment, participants are grouped into "economies" containing citizens and an elected official. In each of multiple periods, the official allocates the economy's income to him-/herself and to the citizens, and citizens vote in an election between the official and a challenger (one of the citizens, nominated to run against the official). You are paid based partly on the results of your choices, and partly on luck. The experiment is expected to take up to 120 minutes, and most participants will earn between $25 and $50. PDF file
