Biography

Margot Schuhmacher is a lecturer at the Higher Education Development Unit, CeLTS and provides academic development to Monash staff, particularly in the area of e-learning. Prior to joining HEDU, Margot was a lecturer at the Faculty of IT, and is currently completing her PhD in the development of a process model for IT Education.  This work includes the development of the Teaching and Learning Design Assistant (TeLDA) tool to manage curriculum design. Margot has a background in quality assurance, and in the use of technology and online tools to support the teaching and learning environment.

Background

My industry background commenced in the area of quality assurance and control in food manufacturing. Following the use of Information Technology for quality assurance, I developed a passion for the use and development of Information Technology leading me to a career path in the use of IT for teaching and learning. I am currently completing my PhD in IT higher education. Prior to joining CeLTS in 2004 I was lecturing in the school of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University for 5 years and the recipient of teaching excellence awards and grants whilst teaching Software Engineering and IT Project management. I have experience in the development and use of online tools in the teaching and learning environment .
