Centrifuge Formulas

To work out number of g or RPM you need to measure the radius (in mm) of the centrifuge rotor or look it up in the manual if available; when you know this (usually r max ) then:

RPM (for a given g) = 9.55 x √(no.g x 9807)/r

No.g (for a given RPM) = [r x (0.105 x RPM) 2 ]/9807

Notes:

Derivation formulae:

RCF = r w^2 /g

w = 2π x RPM/60

60/2π = 9.55

2π/60 = 0.105
