I, Dr. Edwin Montgomery (Monty) Wilkinson received my B.A. degree in German from Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina, U.S.A., in 1966, my M.A. in Linguistics from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A., in 1968, and my Ph.D. in Linguistics, also from Princeton, in 1973.
I came to work at Monash University in 1974. My research interests include formal linguistics (phonological and syntactic theory), German linguistics (the history and linguistic structure of German), and Germanic linguistics, particularly older stages of Germanic languages. I retired several years ago but continue to serve in an honorary capacity (ie without honorarium) and have taught the occasional course.
I have written a textbook entitled An Introduction to Linguistics for Australian Students of German which is available here. The textbook is in Adobe PDF format so that anyone can download and print it and have it look like the original. Feel free to download as little or as much as you like. I would appreciate feedback. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
