Lisa Cameron is the Director of the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability (CDES) at Monash University. She is an empirical development economist, focusing predominantly on Indonesia and China. Her research often incorporates the techniques of experimental economics and she is interested in program evaluation.

Recent and ongoing projects include: (1) A Randomised Evaluation of a Large Scale Indonesian Sanitation Program; (2) Risk-Taking by Indonesian Sex-Workers; (3) An Information Intervention for International Migrant Workers; (4) Criminality: Experimental Evidence from a Chinese Prison.

Her work on the behavioural impacts of China's One Child Policy was recently published in Science.
