Programme

The final academic program is available for download here. Talks will run from 9am to 5:30pm or 6pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday there will be a morning of talks before the conference excursion in the afternoon. On Friday talks will begin at 9am and finish around 4pm, to allow people to make onward travel plans. There will be full social program (see below).

Welcome function

There will be a welcome function on the ground floor of building 28 (the mathematics building) on Sunday night (or on the grassy area in front of building 28 if the weather is fine). The registration desk will be open from 4pm-9pm, with drinks and nibbles from 6pm-9pm.

Penguin watching

On Tuesday evening after dinner there will be an informal excursion to St Kilda to see the fairy penguins. Cost will be just $3.80 for the public transport. Advance bookings not required.

Conference excursion

The main conference excursion will take place on Wednesday afternoon. It will begin with lunch at Killara Estate vineyard in the famous Yarra Valley winegrowing region. We will then move on to a tour and tasting at the Yering Station winery. On the way home we will stop in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, where it will be possible to take a short walk in the magnificent Mountain Ash forest. Mountain Ash are the tallest flowering plants in the world, growing up to 100 metres tall and living for more than 400 years. The area is rich in bird life including numerous parrots, kookaburras, cockatoos and lyre birds.

The cost of the excursion is $60, which includes all expenses (including transport, lunch, wine tasting at both wineries and a tour of Yering station). Tickets for the excursion must be purchased in advance and are not included in conference registration fees. The excursion will return at 7pm, in time for dinner at Mannix college, for guests who are staying there.
