Welcome to the Biofunctional Printing for Surface Engineering research group. Our research group is located within the Australian Pulp and Paper Institute (APPI), Department of Chemical Engineering, Monash University. APPI has a strong research program in the CRC for Smartprint and is exploring new research directions such as bioactive paper and biofunctional printing.

APPI students enjoy well-equipped laboratories for surface, printing, and materials research. APPI's surface characterization instruments include Spotlight ATR-FTIR (Perkin Elmer), Atomic Force Microscope (Thermomicroscope), Ellipsometer, Wilhelmy Balance (Cahn 322), Contact Angle Apparatus with titling stage (DataPhysics), Surface Plasmon Resonance (Biacore), Electrophoresis, Material Printer (Dimatix 2100). APPI also has a range of print testing equipment which includes IGT-AIC52, IGT-F1, Inkometer, Hydroscope, Profbau Deltack, Glossmeter, Park Print Surf, and Instron.

If you are a high caliber student and you are interested in undertaking a research degree within the Biofunctional Printing for Surface Engineering research group, we would be happy to hear from you. You will also enjoy the "one big happy family" working environment of the Department of Chemical Engineering. We look forward to hearing from you.
