Biography

Margot Schuhmacher is the Director of Education Quality and Online Learning & Teaching Coordinator in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. She has extensive experience in online learning and teaching, and has lectured in Software Engineering and Project Management. She coordinates the teaching associates professional development, Peer Assisted Teaching Scheme and Peer Assisted Study Scheme in the Faculty of IT. She is recognised as one of the key consulting persons in online educational support at Monash, providing strategic direction in this area.

Margot is currently completing her PhD in the development of a process model for IT Education.  This work includes the development of the Teaching and Learning Design Assistant (TeLDA) tool to manage curriculum design. Margot has a background in quality assurance, and in the use of technology and online tools to support the teaching and learning environment.

Manage & improve the use of the Digital learning Environment (DLE) across the Faculty.

Manage the support of online learning and teaching within the Faculty.

Manage education quality assurance processes within the Faculty.

Oversee Teaching Associates professional development programs within the Faculty

Background

I have an industry background commenced in the area of quality assurance and control in food manufacturing. Following the use of Information Technology for quality assurance, I developed a passion for the use and development of Information Technology leading me to a career path in the use of IT for teaching and learning. I am currently completing my PhD in IT higher education. I have provided academic development at Monash in the use on online learning systems, lectured in the Faculty of Information Technology and am a recipient of teaching excellence awards and grants whilst teaching Software Engineering and IT Project management. I have experience in the development and use of online tools in the teaching and learning environment .
